Alabama STEM Council Releases 2025 Annual Report Highlighting Statewide Impact and Workforce Alignment

The Alabama STEM Council has released its 2025 Annual Report, showcasing a year of significant progress in strengthening the state’s STEM education-to-workforce pipeline and expanding opportunities for students, educators, and industry partners across Alabama.

The report highlights the Council’s continued focus on aligning education with workforce needs through strategic partnerships and hands-on learning experiences. In 2025, programs reached tens of thousands of students statewide, connecting classroom learning to high-demand career fields such as aerospace, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.

Key initiatives including Alabama STEM Hubs, the STEM Teacher Externship Program, UTeach Alabama, and Alabama STEM Officers played a critical role in advancing this work. These programs collectively expanded career awareness, increased educator capacity, and strengthened pathways from K–12 education to postsecondary opportunities and employment. Notably, more than 65,000 students were reached through workforce incentive initiatives, while UTeach Alabama continued to grow the state’s pipeline of certified STEM educators.

The report also marks several major milestones for the Council, including its official codification into state law through Act 2025-449 and its successful transition into the Alabama Department of Workforce. These developments position the Council to further enhance its impact and deepen alignment between education and Alabama’s evolving workforce needs.

Additionally, the report underscores the importance of regional collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and expanded access to STEM learning opportunities in all seven workforce regions. From increased teacher training and industry partnerships to student-led initiatives and career-connected learning, the Council’s efforts are building a strong foundation for long-term economic growth.

The 2025 Annual Report reflects the Alabama STEM Council’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for success and ensuring Alabama remains competitive in a rapidly changing, innovation-driven economy.
