The Alabama STEM Council was created to advise on ways to improve STEM-related education, career awareness, and workforce development across the state.
The Alabama STEM Council was established on September 21, 2020, by Executive Order No. 721 from Governor Kay Ivey. In 2025, the Council was codified into law through House Bill 365, which formally recognized the Council as the state’s leader in STEM evaluation and programming amplification.
Council members include leaders from Alabama’s business community, educational institutions, and state government working together to strengthen and expand STEM opportunities across the state.
The Alabama STEM Council is working to provide valuable information to a wide audience, including parents, students, teachers, school administrators, and Alabama businesses. From STEM programs and media programming to business volunteer opportunities, find the information here.

The Executive Committee of the STEM Council conducts its official business. It is made up of one member, appointed by the Governor, from each of the state’s congressional districts, and two At-Large members, appointed by the Governor, for their expertise in STEM education or workforce development.
